KITE FESTIVAL IN COLE PARK SATURDAY — Hundreds of colorful kites will dot the skies over Corpus Christi for the Mayor's Fitness Council's Kite Festival on Nov. 9. The festival is one of several events the council has planned this year to promote fitness and outdoor activities.

"Sometimes getting fit starts with just getting outdoors and moving around and having fun," event organizers said.

The fun begins at 11 a.m. in Cole Park on the bay. Festival events last until 3 p.m., but kite flying will continue throughout the day and evening.

With constant winds and wide open beaches, the Coastal Bend area is a great place to take up the sport of kite flying. Check out our story on 101corpuschristi.com to learn more.
