ROCKPORT/FULTON SEAFAIR — Start scheduling your weekend time now to take in both of two great events happening in the Coastal Bend this weekend.
BikeFest XX opened today for the first time ever. Check out the 101CorpusChristi.com coverage of this weekend's schedule.
The Rockport-Fulton Seafair begins Friday, Oct. 11 and continues until Sunday, Oct. 13, featuring country super star Mark Chesnutt. Also providing music are the Spazmatics and the Texaco Country Music showdown, the largest country music talent search in the U.S.
Seafair includes a parade, arts and crafts, water skiing demonstrations and a gumbo cookoff, just to name a few of the eccentric events. It began in the mid 1970s as a fall celebration to mark the lull between the summer season and the arrival of Winter Texans.
Seafair events
The Harbor Gates open to Seafair at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. with live music, a boat show and gumbo!
Paddle boat races begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The land parade marches down Magnolia Street at 10 a.m. Check out the day-long list of events, including Polynesian dancers, cardboard boat races and crab races, online.
Sunday's events begin at 11 a.m. when the car show opens up. Stick around for the salsa and dessert contests, along with the Texaco Country Showdown.
