REGATTA, ART, OLD TOWN FESTIVAL IN PORT A THIS WEEKEND — Head for Port Aransas now to get in on one of the biggest weekends of the year. The always fun sea-side community hosts three big events Oct. 19-20, starting with the Harvest Moon Regatta and ending with the Old Town Festival and the Port A Art About.
Harvest Moon Regatta
Sail boats in the regatta, which took off earlier in the week from Kemah, begin arriving in Port Aransas Oct. 18. Best places for watching are the South Jetty or at the City Marina. Old Town Festival
Celebrate the 103rd birthday of Port Aransas at the Old Town Festival with a surfing competition, row boat races and kids casting contest. Farley Boat Works plans a boat building demonstration. There's also a parade, Pat Farley's world famous gumbo and more. Check out the website for a full schedule of events.
Port Aransas Art About
From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, you can join the fun and ambiance at the Port Aransas Art About. More than 17 locations extend their hours, provide refreshments and hold artist demonstrations. Galleries, studios and design shops all take part in this exciting one-day event.
The Art About will span from Old Town down the stretch of Highway 361. This self-guided tour is designed to get the community involved in the arts and spread awareness of the city's art culture . Maps will be provided and bicycles and carts are welcome! Admission is free and everyone is encouraged to get outside, enjoy the art and enjoy the company of an art-loving crowd.
