[image id=”9285″ title=”sprint Dish network high speed internet” class=”alignright size-full wp-image-21377″ width=”195″ height=”168″ ]WIRELESS HIGH-SPEED INTERNET TRIAL COMING TO TOWN — By mid 2014, you may be able to ditch your cable- or DSL-based broadband internet delivery system and tap into a much faster wireless system.
Sprint and DISH Network have teamed up on a pilot project to test their new wireless enterprise in Corpus Christi. Internet service will be supplied via Sprint’s wireless network. The hardware involved will include antennas that can access a 4G LTE wireless signal on Sprint’s network.
Laptops and smart phones will be able to utilize the service immediately. Home service will require installation of either an outdoor or indoor router, depending on the location.
Other companies working on similar projects are AT&T and Google, both in Austin, Tex. Google began testing a faster wireless internet connection in the Kansas City area in mid-2012.
Broadband speeds are expected to be as high as 1Gigabit per second (Gbps). Cable and DSL speeds are around 30 Megabits per second (Mbps). One Gbps equals 1,024 Mbps—making wireless more than 33 times faster than DSL or cable!
