LAKE CORPUS CHRISTI BACK IN BUSINESS — The water is back and so is business! The waters of Lake Corpus Christi once again lap against the boat docks and piers now that the drought stricken lake has been refilled by November rains. The lake has been below the 60 percent mark over the last two years due to the worst drought in Texas since the 1950s.

With no boat access, sportsmen stayed away, hurting local businesses. A restaurant closed while the marina and bait shops struggled. However, local hotels and RV parks still flourished as temporary homes for workers in the nearby oil and gas industry.

The new, improved lake levels have doubled revenues at Lake Corpus Christi State Park and are breathing new life into the bait and tackle shops. November saw 2,755 more visitors at the state park than the same month last year.
