START YOUR NEW YEAR WITH A WALK ACROSS THE HARBOR BRIDGE — The first Harbor BridgeWalk of the new year gets underway at 10 a.m. at The Galvan House, 1581 N Chaparral. Be one of the first 300 runners/walkers to arrive to Heritage Park after having crossed the bridge and you will receive a limited edition 2014 commemorative coin. This walk also counts as a stamp on your coin if you are working towards earning a BridgeWalk T-shirt.

Join Councillor of District 4, Colleen McIntyre, as she represents Mayor Nelda Martinez during this first annual event.

The route for tomorrow's walk will be the same as the walks on the first Sunday of the month. At 3.42 miles long, it is half uphill, half downhill and can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on your speed — and how often you stop to take photographs!

From Heritage Park, the BridgeWalk follows this route:  Resaca to Broadway to Power St, US access ramp, then northbound over the bridge, cross under the bridge on the north end, back over the bridge southbound, down ramp to Belden, left on Broadway, right on Resaca and back to Heritage Park for a celebration!

If you already have plans for New Year's Day, you have another chance to walk the bridge this Sunday at the regular First Sunday BridgeWalk. That walk begins at 8:30 a.m. the first Sunday of every month during the winter and 7:30 a.m. during the warmer months.
