Another Stripes is opening in the Corpus Christi area, announced Susser Holding Company, which operates 627 convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Of those, 580 are Stripes, the rest are recently acquired Sac-N-Pac stores. The company purchased 47 Sac-N-Pacs for $88 million in January. Sac-N-Pac stores dot the corridor between San Antonio and Austin.

The latest build in Corpus Christi is a 7,500-square-foot travel center with five showers, a laundry room and restaurant. The Laredo Taco Co. will seat 40 people. Some 30 jobs will be available as the store prepares to open in mid-summer.

Located at the intersection of Interstate 37 and U.S. Hwy 59, Stripes Convenience Store Travel Center No. 2446 in George West also will have five diesel fuel lanes along with the regular line up of gasolines.

As Corpus Christi's only Fortune 500 company, Susser has reported 25 consecutive years of increases in merchandise and fuel sales. Revenues for 2013 came in at $6.2 billion, a 9.2 percent increase from the year before.

"We continued to see robust growth, with a more than 8 percent increase in gallons sold and a 38 percent year-over-year increase in gross profit for the full year," said Rocky B. Dewbre, President and Chief Executive Officer in a press release. "We will continue to pursue accretive acquisition opportunities such as our recently completed purchase of 3W Warren Fuels, the wholesale distributor for 67 fueling locations, including the 47 Sac-N-Pac stores now owned by [Susser]."
