Meet local wildlife on a hiking trail

You can keep on trekkin' in Corpus Christi with a variety of nature trails and miles and miles of beachfront for hiking and walking enthusiasts.

Campus Hike

Texas A&M University Corpus Christi has a 7.3-mile hike-and-bike trail around the campus. The trail is lighted from dusk until dawn every day. (Pets must be on a leash.)

Oso Bay Hike

The Corpus Christi Bay Trail stretches from downtown to Oso Bay for more than eight miles of rollerblading, running or strolling. The trail features gorgeous views of the bay and is located beside many popular, downtown tourist attractions.

Grasslands Nature Trail

Take a trek on the Grasslands Nature Trail, located at the Padre Island National Seashore. The two-mile path through the sand dunes offers an authentic, natural experience. Jackrabbits and coyotes are known to frequent the trail, as well as a plethora of birds and insects.

Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens

The Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens has two great nature trails within its 180-acre plot: the Bird and Butterfly Trail and the Oso Creek Trail, part of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. Both trails are chock full of insects, birds and other wildlife. However, these trails are best suited for walkers. Bikes and pets are not permitted within the gardens.

The Beach!

Or, you can walk along Corpus Christi’s most natural trail of all — the beach! Bring the dog for a run, walk with your special someone or go for a solo skimboard cruise across the miles of beach in the Coastal Bend area.
