Celebrate the wind in Portland at the annual Windfest each April.Windfest attracts nearly 25,000 attendees who come to delight in the ever blowing gulf winds.
Activities include washer and horseshoe tournaments, chili, bean, and rib cook-offs, a carnival, concessions, live entertainment, and arts and crafts.The fun begins when the carnival opens its gates on the first night, Friday.
Also on Friday, festivities kick off with the crowning of Mr. and Miss Windfest.
On Saturday the grounds of Portland Community Center open for 12 hours of celebration.
Sunday hours are from noon to 5 p.m.
Saturday's events include a parade at 10 a.m., chili, ribs and bean cook offs, washer and horseshoe tournaments and live music all day long.
More live music begins at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, along with the Dachshund Costume Parade at 1:30 p.m. and the Dachshund Dash at 2 p.m. Car Show winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m.
It's a blast for everyone in the family—even the pups! On Sundays, dogs are welcomed to attend. They will especially enjoy the Dachshund parade and race.
