A devoted family man, shutter shop owner Bill Moreland has been providing custom built shutters for three generations of Corpus Christi homeowners.
In business since 1973, Bill Moreland’s Shutter Shop at 3901 Saturn Road is a family run and family focused operation. Moreland’s son, Parker, 48, is an integral part of a business that prides itself on 43 years of community service.
“I am proud that we are able to offer a service to our customers that always exceeds their expectations,” says Moreland, 72. “That kind of service creates a strong referral network.”
The family creates custom solid-wood plantation shutters and is involved in the process from the initial consult to the final install. As a longstanding local business, the Morelands strongly value craftsmanship, reputation and high standards of service because they want to provide the best for homes in Corpus Christi and across Texas, Bill Moreland said. He believes Corpus Christi has been the ideal location for growing both his business and family.
“We have lived here for over 51 years,” Moreland said. “People are very outgoing, friendly, involved with their children and community-oriented. It is a great place to raise your children.”
Moreland, too, fits that description. He regularly donates to the American Cancer Society, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Corpus Christi Council for the Deaf, the Humane Society, Peewee’s No Kill Pet Shelter, public television and Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He also is a former president of the Coastal Bend Multiple Sclerosis Society.
While Moreland continues to strive to excel in business and dedicate time to charitable organizations, his family remains his greatest accomplishment. He also enjoys gardening in his spare time.
“My wife and I just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in April,” he says.
His son, Parker, and daughter-in-law, Shonda, have four children and two grandchildren. His daughter, Lindsay, and her husband, Bill, have two daughters and live in Tennessee.
