South Packery Channel in Corpus Christi, is a great location for reeling in a Spanish mackerel or just rest and relaxation. The beach offers soft waves and warm sand that makes this peaceful and breezy stretch of coastline perfect for everyone.
The shore of South Packery is less crowded than other beaches and is great for sandcastle building and walks along the water. The waves are perfect for surfing, skimboarding and more:

South Packery Channel divides Upper Padre Island and Mustang Island. Rules and regulations for this beach include:

  • Open year round
  • No entrance fees
  • $12 parking permit required: Permits can be purchased at local H-E-B grocers, Stripes Convenience Stores, Academy, Texas Star on Padre Island, Padre Balli Park Office or at the Corpus Christi City Hall and Visitors Center. Permits are valid for one calendar year.
  • Speed limit is ALWAYS 15 mph
  • Pets permitted
  • Contained and supervised ground fires permitted
  • Free camping
  • No restrooms or facilities at this beach
  • Glass bottles not permitted.

Access South Packery Channel by taking Texas 358 into Upper Padre Island. Turn left down Whitecap Boulevard and take another left onto Windward Drive until you see the beach.
