Not just anyone gets an opportunity to see Santa scuba diving! Visit the Texas State Aquarium between Dec. 13 and Christmas Eve and you'll be one of the few who can watch Santa take to the water in red suit, beard and scuba gear.
Kids get in free with a paying adult during the aquarium's special annual scuba diving Santa event. Santa dives on a regular basis at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day through Christmas Eve.
You'll find scuba-diving Santa in the Flower Gardens exhibit, a 40,000-gallon replica of an actual coral reef. Along with the underwater Santa, you'll see tarpon, green moray eels, porcupine fish, French angelfish, cow-nose stingrays and barracuda.
Purchase tickets online for a special discount! Tickets are $21.95 for ages 13 to 65 at the door. They only cost $18.95 if purchased online. Senior and military prices are $19.95 at the door and $16.95 online. Children ages 3 to 12 cost $15.95 at the door and $13.95 online, EXCEPT from Dec.13-24 when kids are free with a paying adult. Kids 2 and under are always free, as are aquarium members. Parking is $5.
Strollers and wheelchairs are available for rent. Winter hours for the aquarium are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The aquarium will be closed on Christmas Day. After all that diving and toy delivery, Santa certainly will need his rest!
