The planning process for Corpus Christi downtown development continues in the last week of February with two meetings set to present a draft of the vision and strategies created from brainstorming sessions last year. The meetings will be held Tuesday, February 24, and Wednesday, February 25. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussions for Plan CC, the Downtown Area Development Plan launched in 2014.
The plan will integrate the proposed Harbor Bridge alignment, Shoreline Boulevard changes and other public and private projects underway.
“The draft vision and strategies for the downtown area focus on how to enable new investments and initiatives that offer economic and quality of life benefits to the whole city,” said Ben Carlson in a press release. Carlson is director of urban design at Goody Clancy, the firm hired by the city to develop the plan. “At the public meeting, the community will review and discuss specific actions to promote downtown area revitalization and help confirm the best ways to address community priorities.”

Tuesday, Feb. 24 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Public Open House No. 1
Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, 402 Harbor Drive, Nueces Room
Two hours of informal discussion, includes display boards on draft vision and strategies
Also Tuesday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Public Meeting: Presentation of Draft Vision and Strategies
Presentation on findings and break-out groups on specific topics.
Wednesday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Further information sharing and feedback with continued discussion.
Discussions will include the identity of distinctive downtown areas, removing barriers to private development, expanding transportation options and making public spaces true centers of community.
The plan is expected to be completed this spring.
