The city of Corpus Christi regularly picks up heavy brush and bulky items curbside. The trick is knowing when your neighborhood has been scheduled for a pickup.
Pickups are scheduled by zones, which you can find online at cctexas.com. Find your neighborhood and chart set-out and pickup days on the chart below the map.
The city provides four heavy trim and bulky item pickups a year per neighborhood. The city defines heavy brush as “tree and shrub limbs and trimmings, which are greater than three inches in diameter; tree trunks; root balls; and similar items.” Bulky items do NOT include concrete, brick, rocks, stone or dirt.
Heavy brush and bulky items are to be set out where the garbage bins are normally set, according to the city’s rules. Items should not be placed in the street, gutter, sidewalk or drainage ditch.
Piles should not be any greater than 6 feet high, 10 feet long and 6 feet deep. The city also asks that bulky items and heavy brush be separated. Not following the rules could result in fines of up to $2,000 per day per violation. Ouch!
Regular yard waste can be set out with the garbage in the city’s green carts. Garbage is picked up weekly. Recycling should be put in the blue recycling bins, which are picked up twice a week. Schedules can be determined by utilizing the online maps at cctexas.com.
