Sticking to a vegetarian diet these days is much easier than it used to be with vegetarian dining options increasing and improving, even on fast-food menus.  Vegetarians don't eat meat, whether beef, pork or chicken. Some will eat fish, but a true vegetarian excludes eating "anything with a mother." A vegan follows a much more strict version of the diet, excluding all animal products such as eggs, milk and cheese. Vegans usually also don't wear leather or use soaps made from animal products.  Adhering to a strict diet while eating out is not as hard as it used to be. Here are a few things to consider when it comes to heading out for some vegetarian fare in Corpus Christi.
1. Check ahead
Most restaurants post their menu online. Before choosing a restaurant, check out the online menu to determine if the eatery offers vegetarian items or options.
2. Talk to friends
If you’re looking for some vegetarian restaurants, ask your friends for suggestions and recommendations.
3. Ask about substitutions
Ask your server about vegetarian options. A growing number of restaurants offer non-meat options and foods cooked without animal products. In fact, more and more restaurants are serving up wonderful black-bean burgers as a regular menu item.
4. Mix up those sides
If you find yourself in a steakhouse or other restaurant that doesn’t really offer a true vegetarian option, consider ordering a selection of sides. Even most steakhouses offer a variety of salads, vegetables, baked potatoes (even baked sweet potatoes) and other sides.
