Three days of Windfest fun include Dachshund races on Sunday.

Celebrate the wind in Portland at the annual Windfest on April 17-19. Windfest attracts about 25,000 attendees, who come to delight in the ever-blowing gulf winds against a backdrop of ocean waves and electricity generating windmills.
Activities include washer and horseshoe tournaments; chili, bean and rib cook-offs; a carnival; concessions; live entertainment; and arts and crafts.
The fun begins when the carnival opens its gates Friday, April 17. Friday activities include the crowning of Mr. and Miss Windfest along with live music. Bands are The Borderline Band from 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Taylor Tumlinson from 8:30-9:30 p.m. and Five Card Draw from 9:30-10:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the grounds of Portland Community Center open at 11 a.m. for 12 hours of celebration. Events include a parade at 10 a.m.; chili, ribs and bean cook-offs; washer and horseshoe tournaments; and live music all day long. More live music begins at 12:15 p.m. 
Sunday hours are noon-5 p.m. Events include the Dachshund Costume Parade at 1:30 p.m. and the Dachshund Dash at 2 p.m. Car show winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m.
Tickets range from $15 to $25 for the carnival and $3 to $5 for Windfest entry. Parking is $3 per vehicle, which funds local charities and scholarships.
