The Beach to Bay Relay hits the sands of Corpus Christi on Saturday, May 16, sporting teams of six runners each, some dressed in fanciful costumes. Once you've hit the run, time to move on over to Port Aransas for the ArtFest and Songwriter's Showcase, all part of a weekend packed with activities you'll only find in the Coastal Bend.
Always held on Armed Services Day, the annual Beach to Bay relay is the largest relay marathon in the U.S. The race attracts more than 2,500 teams with more than 15,000 runners from all over the world. The race is held to honor the men and women of the military with all proceeds going to local charities.
Each of the six legs is about four miles long. The race begins on the sands of North Padre Island, travels through Naval Air Station and ends at McCaughan Park on Shoreline Dr. For more information or to register, check out the Beach to Bay Relay website
