Corpus Christi ranked fourth among the top 150 cities in the United States to begin a career but came in 82nd for quality of life, according to a recent analysis by WalletHub, a social media company known for its state and local rankings. With the two figures combined, the Sparkling City by the Sea ranked in sixth place just under Houston, which ranked fifth, and Austin, which was third.
Texas dominated the list, taking the first and second places as well. Coming in second was Grand Prairie, which was topped only by Irving. Only Austin received a high quality of life ranking, claiming No. 1 in that category.
The rankings were done to help steer newcomers in the job market to the best places to get a job. Using the top 150 most populous cities, WalletHub explored 19 metrics designed to represent the kinds of issues young people consider when looking for a new place to live and work.
Aspects taken into consideration included weather, recreation, culture, affordability, education and number of single people.
