New commercial permits and plans recently filed for consideration by city planners in a two-week period in July totaled more than $28 million. Plans include $3.36 million for the Manhattan Apartments at 7001 Lipes St. and $3 million to redo the southside parking lot and ring road at La Palmara Mall on South Padre Island Drive.
A new indoor kids play area with bounce houses should be finished and opened sometime in September, according to the contractor. Infinity Play will cost about $70,000.
First Community Bank seeks permission to build a covered ATM with parking for $36,000, while Murphy USA at 1801 South Padre Island Drive is building new fuel stations and canopies for $1.2 million.
Three new office buildings soon might be under construction at 5337 Yorktown Blvd. Businesses and the amount of money involved included: Gonzales Business Offices, $285,700; Kelly Business Offices, $142,850; and Lee Business Offices, $142,850.
