Proceeds from the YWCA’s annual Yuletide Luncheon and Market Nov. 6 will benefit the YWTeens program. Around 470 guests are expected for the luncheon and market from 10 to 1 p.m. The market will then open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. for early holiday shopping. The YWCA of Corpus Christi expects to raise about $100,000 at this year’s event.
The Yuletide market is in its 25th year. Proceeds benefit a different Y program each year. YWTeens serves around 1,500 fifth and sixth grade girls in Title 1 schools, teaching daily life lessons about pregnancy, bullying, drugs and peer pressure, said Gary Zacher, development coordinator for the YWCA.
The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, 402 Harbor Drive. Inspirational speaker Courtney Clark, who has survived two bouts of cancer, is known for her insight into how to handle change.
A silent auction for luncheon guests further expands the early holiday shopping opportunities, along with a “Dine Around Town” raffle.
Those not able to attend the luncheon or market, can still help by becoming an event sponsor, Zacher said. Sponsors can donate at four levels: sapphire at $2,500 which includes pre-event advertising recognition; table sponsor at $1,250, which includes 10 reserved seats; ruby at $500 for four reserved seats; and amethyst at $250 for two reserved seats. All sponsorships include names on the sponsor board. Individual luncheon tickets are $75 each.
Proceeds from next year’s Yuletide Luncheon and Market will be split between all of the YWCA’s programs, said Zacher.
