The National Park Service celebrates its 100th birthday this year. As its gift to the nation, national parks have added to the number of fee-free days, including an entire week in April.
This year, visitors have 16 days to enjoy a park at no charge. The same fee-free days will happen at all 409 national parks in the United States — including the Coastal Bend’s very own Padre Island National Seashore.
Mark your calendar and take advantage of these opportunities to spend a day at the beach. Keep in mind that extra user fees, such as camping, tours and boat ramp launch passes will still be collected at the park entrance.
NPS Fee Free Days:
January 18, Martin Luther King Day
April 16-24, National Park Week
August 25-28, National Park Service Birthday
September 24, Nation Public Lands Day
November 11, Veterans Day
