The British are coming! The British are coming! This time, they are coming in the form of fashion giant H & M clothing, which plans to open a shop in La Palmera, according to a permit request submitted to the city’s development services office recently.
According to the permit request, the store will occupy 26,000 square feet, the remodeling of which will cost $150,000. H&M retailers promise to provide “fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way,” according to the website at hm.com. The company does not create its own clothes. It buys from independent suppliers that use environmentally safe practices. Prices are kept low by cutting out the middleman in purchasing, volume purchasing and efficient logistics, continues the company’s statement.
Several new shops and eateries are planned for both La Palmera and the Shops on La Palmera along S. Padre Island Drive at Staples.
The indoor shopping district will soon be welcoming The Buckle in a 6,500-square-foot space, costing around $240,000. The Buckle sells medium to better-priced casual apparel, footwear and accessories for young men and women. Currently the company has more than 450 stores in 44 states.
Also, coming to the Shops at La Palmer are the Grub Burger Bar and the city’s  second Chick Fil A
