Corpus Christi celebrates the life and legacy of Selena at Fiesta de la Flor. The third annual event is set for March 24-15, 2017.
A musical tribute to Tejana superstar Selena Quintanilla Perez announced the lineup for its second year, along with the news that Fiesta de la Flor will be doubling in size. The two-day event on May 6-7, which celebrates the life and legacy of Selena will expand beyond North Bayfront Park in downtown Corpus Christi to include the American Bank Center and the Art Museum of South Texas as venues.
“We are excited about the expanded footprint and elements that have been added to enhance the visitor experience at this year’s Fiesta de la Flor,” said Paulette Kluge, CEO of the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We look forward to another successful event that celebrates our beautiful Selena and to welcoming visitors from all over the world again in 2016,”
According to the CVB, last year’s inaugural event hosted more than 52,000 festival-goers. Two-thirds of those were visitors from outside of Corpus Christi. Fiesta de la Flor provided an estimated economic impact of over $13 million to the area. This year, the CVB anticipates more than 70,000 fans.
The entertainment line-up for this year’s event includes:
• Friday, May 6, up-and-coming artist Isabel Marie, Tejano favorite Pete Astudillo, Erick y Su Grupo Massore and multi-Grammy Award winner and the King of the Accordion, Ramon Ayala.
• Saturday, May 7, Isabel Marie, Corpus Christi favorite Clarissa Serna, Tejano/Country artist from California Jorge Moreno, Grammy-Award winner Chris Perez, Tejano great David Lee Garza, multi-Grammy Award winner Elida Reyna y Avante, legendary artists Fito Olivares and Ruben Ramos and four-time Grammy winners La Mafia.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 6 and 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at North Bayfront Park. Daily General Admission tickets will be available for $10. Two-day passes sell for $15 per festival-goer. Children 7 and under will receive complimentary admission. Tickets are now available via TicketFly.com.
