New, color-coded signs now line Corpus Christi beaches, just in time for spring break, which begins Saturday, March 12 and ends Sunday, March 20. Called “Know Your Location,” the signs are part of a program set up by the Corpus Christi Police Department to help first responders find anyone needing help.
Different colored signs will be posted on each beach between Bob Hall Pier to Port Aransas. Anyone calling for first responders should be able to quickly identify exactly where they are located by beach color and mile marker.

BURN FIREWOOD ONLY

Another new rule bans the burning of wooden pallets on the beach. Only actual firewood, which can be purchased at local convenience stores, can be brought in and burned on the beach. Anything that includes metal, such as furniture or pallets, is now illegal.

NO DOGS

During spring break only, dogs will not be allowed on certain portions of the beach. Dogs are banned from Access Road 3 to Bob Hall Pier from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 20. That stretch of beach includes the Padre Island Seawall at Michael Ellis Beach, Whitecap Beach and Padre Balli Park.
