An additional 5,500 Moderna vaccines arrived in Corpus Christi on Monday, Jan. 25. The majority of them will be given out at a first-come, first-served drive-through clinic beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. The clinic will be held at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, 1213 Terry Shamsie Blvd. in Robstown. All registration will be done on site. Distribution will continue until all of the shots have been given.
On Friday, Jan. 29, 50 doses will be given to people who received a first shot on Dec. 29. That clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those eligible for a second dose will be sent a text message. Second-shot recipients must bring their vaccination cards with them. Second shots can be given between 28 days and six weeks after the first shot.
Shots are being given to people in the state of Texas vaccination plan's Phase 1A and Phase 1B categories, which includes first responders, healthcare professionals, and anyone 65 years of age or older. Those ages 18-65 with chronic health issues are also eligible for Moderna vaccines. That will open up to ages 16 and up for other vaccines. Moderna has not been approved for anyone under the age of 18.
You do not have to be a resident of Corpus Christi or Nueces County to get a shot at the Robstown mega-drive-through. The hub was set up for anyone living in a 75-mile radius, but no residency proof is required.
Other clinics will be set up in February for those who cannot commute to the Robstown site.
