World renowned cellist and 2012 Musician of the Year David Finckel joins the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra for an Evening Fantastique at the Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. on Feb. 8. The venue is located on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus at 6300 Ocean Drive.
The program includes a performance of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique and Rossini’s Overture to La scala di seta (The Silken Staircase).
Finckel will perform Schumann’s Concerto for Cello.
Symphonie Fantastique is one of the best known works of the prolific 19th century French composer Hector Berlioz. A breakthrough in his career, the score highlights the influence of Beethoven on Berlioz’s work. The five movements are filled with passion and romance, making this a perfect place to take a date.
Tickets are on sale from $22 to $90, depending on seating.
