Todd Hunter, Ed Barker and Rick Fancher have merged their law practices to create Hunter Barker Fancher, while also adding an additional three attorneys to the new firm in its new offices. The firm is set up for business on the 12th floor of Tower II where attorneys Floyd Brown, Rod Handel, David Neblett and their support staffs have joined them.

The move is a response to the local economic upswing, say the lawyers.

“We are excited about where Corpus Christi is heading and the opportunities that are changing the focus of business in this area,” said Todd Hunter, who also serves as State Representative for the area.

The newly forged firm will focus on civil and commercial defense. Their combined 180 years of experience includes experience across the legal spectrum as well, says managing partner Rick Fancher.

“Ed, Todd and I have known each other and worked on cases together for over 20 years,” Fancher said.  “We have a similar philosophy of the law and approach to our work which makes this transition very smooth.”

Hunter was admitted to the Texas bar in 1978. His areas of practice include insurance, commercial, banking, tort trial and appellate practice and mediation.

Admitted to the Tennessee bar in 1965, Barker’s practice includes defense of complex litigation, serious personal injuries claims, business, contracts, corporations, product liability, workers’ compensation, environmental and toxic torts, general liability, communication/FCC litigation of securities liability issues, labor litigation, defense of insurers against claim of bad faith and other extra contractual claims.

Fancher, who was admitted to the Texas bar in 1979, practices law in the areas of defense of professional liability, errors and omissions claims, medical, legal, insurance, and financial fields, along with the defense of insurers against bad faith and other extra-contractual claims.
