The need to support his family motivated Corpus Christi chiropractor Rey Samaniego to earn a degree and open a business in his hometown. As owner of Evans Chiropractic for the past 17 years, Dr. Samaniego looks to his entire family, including his parents, for his inspiration.
“My parents, over the years, have been the most significant inspiration in my life,” he said. “I believe they have molded not only my personality and determination but also inspired me to always strive to become greater in everything I do.”
He decided to become a chiropractor after he was married and had two kids. He credits them with helping him get through school.
“With the help of my wife and parents, we achieved my goal of becoming a chiropractor,” he said. “It took a lot of sacrifice and handwork.”
Dr. Samaniego spent 6½ years studying for his chiropractic degree, an accomplishment he is proud of because of the difficulty and endurance it required. A native of Corpus Christi, he has only lived away from the city the 3½ years he attended Texas Chiropractic College in Houston.
“I’ve always thought Corpus Christi is beautiful, especially the bayfront and beaches and the amazing weather,” he said. “Most of my family lives in Corpus. It’s always been home and probably always will be.”
A member of the Corpus Christi Evening Rotary Club since 1998, Dr. Samaniego is a recipient of the Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellow Award. He served as president of the rotary from 2002 to 2003. His after-work activities include spending quality time with his family and playing golf with his friends, “any chance I get.”
In his practice, Dr. Samaniego uses a holistic approach to chiropracty, specializing in back and neck pain, sciatica, auto accidents, sports injuries, headaches, planter fasciitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.
He recently added Dr. John Kolich as an associate in his practice and expanded his business to provide patients with high-quality vitamin supplements and homeopathic immune-boosting supplements from Standard Process Inc.
With customer satisfaction in mind, he also reduced his prices for people who don’t have insurance and dropped co-pays for those who do.
“We’ve had the same management in the same location with the same chiropractor for 17 years,” Dr. Samaniego said when asked about his business.
His staff noted that patients appreciate the friendly atmosphere and affordable prices.
“They like Dr. Rey’s great results and awesome bedside manner, too,” they told Corpus Christi Business News.
