NuStar Energy once again made Fortune magazine’s list as one of the best companies in the U.S. to work for. Based on a random sampling of employees, NuStar rated 18th out of 100 companies that made the list. It has been on the list seven years, ranking 26th in 2014.
A major employer in Corpus Christi, NuStar has invested some $70 million in its local operations in the last decade. The company operates pipelines, terminals and storage facilities in Corpus Christi. It recently completed building a loading dock at the Port of Corpus Christi with the capacity to store 1.6 million barrels.
“I feel recognized as an individual with ideas and input,” stated one employee in the survey. “And although I am not in a management position my talents have been recognized in such a way that I have been considered to lead others.”
NuStar Energy was recognized for offering its employees compressed work weeks, paid time off for volunteering, discounted gym memberships, onsite medical care, college tuition reimbursement, same -sex benefits and a non-discrimination policy. The company was also lauded for its involvement in its home communities, which include Linden, New Jersey and San Antonio, Texas, as well as Corpus Christi.
“I enjoy working here because of the way they give back to the community,” commented another employee in the survey. “There are no micromanagers and family is a very important aspect to this company.”
A total of 1,210 employees help this transpiration company generate $3.5 billion in revenue in 2014. NuStar Energy has invested more than $70 million in Corpus Christi operations over the past 10 years.
