A mako shark some 60 miles off the coast of Port Aransas was bagged, tagged and released by Harte Research Center scientist Greg Stunz. Footage from the shark cam will be featured on “Monster Mako” on the Discovery Channel. Last year, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi researcher starred in "Monster Hammerhead."
Other stories include a look at HB 1915, which goes into effect September 1. Co-authored by two local state elected officials, the bill allots Corpus Christi 2 percent of the Hotel Occupancy Tax for beach maintenance. Port Aransas’s 1 percent was doubled to 2 percent.
