Now’s your chance to become a member of the Corpus Christi City Council and NOT have to go through a grueling, expensive election. The council is seeking applications to fill the at-large position being vacated by Lillian Riojas, who is leaving Feb. 24 to take a job in San Antonio. Applications will be accepted in the city secretary’s office in city hall until 5 p.m. Feb. 29.
To be considered, candidates must turn in the following:
• completed application for appointment to the council;
• completed questionnaire;
• city’s required Report of Financial Information;
• Authorization and Disclosure Forms for criminal background check.
To be qualified, an applicant:
• must be a citizen of the U.S.
• must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment;
• must not be a convicted felon;
• must not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgement of a court;
• must have been a resident of Texas for the past 12 months and of the city of Corpus Christi for six months; and
• must not owe delinquent taxes to the city.
