Two big events to involve the community in the upcoming Fiesta de la Flor happen soon in Corpus Christi. On Tuesday, April 12, anyone wanting to volunteer at the event May 6-7 should attend a mixer at the House of Rock. Also, the public is invited to sign a tribute wall to the Tejano superstar at La Palmera mall from now until May 1.
Since Fiesta de la Flor, honoring hometown singer Selena Quintanilla Perez is doubling in size, twice the number of volunteers will be needed to help with the 70,000 expected visitors. House of Rock at 511 Starr Street hosts a mixer for volunteers from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12. The free event allows volunteers to ask questions and sign up.
Jobs available include guiding festival-goers and media, crowd control, pedestrian traffic flow and other positions. Volunteers will receive free admission for the day of the festival, a T-shirt and snacks and drinks in the hospitality suite.
Even if you can’t volunteer, you can still be involved by visiting La Palmera mall between now and May 1 to sign the Selena tribute wall. The wall will be moved to the festival for display during the two-day festival held at the downtown Bayfront Park.
