Doc Popcorn is one of two new tenants coming soon to La Palmera. Procurers of a plethora of flavored popcorns (apple crisp, hopin’ jalapeño, cheese and caramel!), will share space with Dippin’ Dots, a space-age ice cream. The shop will be located on the upper level of La Palmera adjacent to Claire’s.
Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop plans to open at 5425 South Padre Island Drive, selling its own brand of court sodas and a vast variety of bin candy and novelties. (Bacon soda and Toblerone anyone?) The tenant finish-out for the 1,541 square feet of space is expected to cost $20,000.
Also recently requesting permits from the city planning department was H&M clothing store, slated for La Palmera. The 26,558-square-foot space will cost about $1.7 million and should be open in time for the holiday shopping season, said a spokesperson for La Palmera.
Permits issued in late April include:
• Euro Bungy at Funtrackers, 9605 South Padre Island Drive, $35,601;
• Southlake Apartments, 3310 Rodd Field Road, $185,695:
• Rehabilitation hospital, 345 Water St., $11 million;
• Wonders Bar and Grill, 3373 S. Alameda, $$195,000;
