On Sunday, Schlitterbahn’s Veranda Restaurant at 14353 Commodores Drive will hold a there will be a Mother’s Day Brunch. On Sunday, watch the Corpus Christi Hooks play ball against the San Antonio Missions. The gates open at 1:05 p.m. with special prizes for Mother’s Day, including gift cards from H-E-B, Valero, Massage Envy, Rudy’s Bar-B-Q and Whataburger. Take part in the art
The Art Museum of South Texas is having a special Dollar Day in honor of Mother’s Day. Visit the museum Sunday, May 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 1902 N Shoreline Blvd., S.E.A. District.
Michael’s craft store plans two events for Mother’s Day Fun on Saturday, May 7. From 10 a.m. to noon, kids craft paper flowers. Sign up in store or online (or just drop in!). Cost is $2 per project, supplies included. The second event, Fun Family Craft time will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Kids craft a card and a bracelet. Free event, supplies included. Go for a walk
The ArtWalk is held the first Friday of every month, and this month it falls right on Mother’s Day weekend. On Friday, May 6, join the ArtWalk in the newly renovated La Retama Park in downtown Corpus Christi. Hosted by the Marina Arts District, the ArtWalk will feature free live music and local flavors and beverages for sale from the ever popular food trucks. Pop in and out of art galleries to peep the work of local and national artists. Visit the website to learn more.
Join the BridgeWalk on Sunday, May 8 at 8:30 a.m in Heritage park. Arrive early to fill out a participants waiver. After the walk, join the well exercised crowd in Heritage park for free fitness classes, including Yoga, Zumba and Tai Chi. Click here for more information.
Stop and smell the roses
Moms get in free at the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center this weekend, May 6-8. Forget buying her flowers, take her to look at some. Just say, “Mom’s love flowers,” as the front desk for free admission to an orchid show, art exhibit and Parrot Talk in the Tropical Garden. The rest of the family pays regular general admission (unless you’re members!).
If you would rather run through the roses, join the free Mother’s Day Fun Run on Sunday, May 8. The course leads runners through the botanical gardens trail system, butterfly house, bromeliad conservatory, orchid house and other beautiful scenery. Listen to the music
Del Mar College is throwing a special Mother’s Day concert featuring the Del Mar Master Chorus. Join the music on Satuday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Richardson Performance Hall on Del Mar East Campus, located at Ayers and Baldwin. Admission is free.
On Sunday, May 8, KROB is throwing its 13th Annual Mother’s Day Celebration. With two stages of Tejano music playing from 12 to 8 p.m., you have plenty of ime to dance. The celebration will be held in Heritage Park at 1581 Chapparall St.
Get that “Mom” tattoo you’ve always wanted
