4 tips on how to have the perfect mini-vacation with friends in Corpus Christi

Some like sports, some like wine with lunch, others want to take in some art. It’s easy to make everybody happy when you got out for a day on the town in Corpus Christi.
1. Make a list
Compile an email list of friends with whom you’d like to hang out for a day. Add some you haven’t seen in awhile with those you see every day.
2. Pick a date
Be sure to offer at least three alternative dates for your daycation. The one with the most yeses wins.
3. Daycation invite
Send out your daycation invitation via email. Tell them you are going to plan an outing based on everyone’s favorite things to do. Ask them to reply with ideas.
4. Plot your adventure
Once you’ve picked a date and compiled the lists of those coming, start planning your adventure. Decide when to start it and where; when to end it and where; how to fit in the in-betweens.

Below is a suggestion for a fun-filled day that hits some Coastal Bend highlights.

8 a.m.  Head over to Hester’s for breakfast
Hester’s Cafe at Lamar Park is a great place to start with coffee and your choice of breakfast specialties.
9 a.m. Lamar Park Shopping
From Hester’s, stroll over to any number of great shops to find the perfect gift for yourself or someone else. From Four Chicks in the Park to Chico’s to Pilar Fashion and Folk Art, Lamar Park can keep everyone in your group happy while they digest breakfast.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anthony’s Aveda
Pamper your group with any variety of facials, mani-pedis, makeovers, hair care or massages. Anthony’s Aveda Concept Salon and Day Spa offers discounts on group packages, including a delicious spa lunch.
3 p.m.  Take to the boat to the fish
Hop aboard the Japonica for a trip across the bay and under the bridge to the Texas State Aquarium, where you can take in the new Tentacles exhibit and see the two new dolphins in the dolphin show.
5 p.m. Back on the boat
Return to Harrison’s Landing, where you can have a cool drink at the bayside bar while talking over the day and the next stop.
7:05 p.m. Get Hooked
Take me out to the ballpark for a game at Whataburger Field, where you can watch AA baseball while enjoying fresh-squeezed lemonade and foot-long corndogs. If you go on a Friday, there’s always fireworks after the game.
