
U.S. Senator John Cornyn will ride in the Mayor’s Big Bang Fourth of July Parade and throw out the first pitch at the Hook’s game later that evening.
More than 20 dignitaries will wave to the crowds at the annual Fourth of July parade, including special guest U.S. Senator John Cornyn. The senior senator from Texas, Cornyn will also throw out the first pitch at the Hooks baseball game against the Tusla Drillers, 7:05 p.m., Monday, July 4.
“The Fourth of July is a day for celebration and spending time with family and friends,” Sen. Cornyn said in a press release. “I look forward to coming back to Corpus to take part in the Big Bang Parade, cheer on the Hooks, and visit with civic and community leaders to get an update on the region’s priorities.”
Cornyn will ride next to Mayor Nelda Martinez as the parade starts down Shoreline Blvd. at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
“Senator Cornyn is a great friend of Corpus Christi," Martinez said. "We are honored he will be joining us in celebrating the Fourth of July.”

Cornyn is in his third, six-year term as Republican senator representing the Lone Star State in Washington D.C. He was first elected in 2002. He is the current Senate Majority Whip for the 114th Congress and serves on the Budget, Finance and Judiciary committees.
