The Harbor Lights Festival has been postponed until Dec. 10 because of an incoming storm expected to bring cold and wet weather to the Coastal Bend. The weather forecast also led Port Aransas to cancel its annual Carolers Afloat & Boat Lighting Parade.
Thunderstorms began Friday, Dec. 2, and are expected to continue through the weekend with an 80-90 percent chance of rain through Sunday. The weekend of Dec. 10 is expected to be partly cloudy and cool with a high of 72 degrees and a low of 57 degrees. Winds are expected up to 14 mph with a 20 percent chance of rain.
The city’s Christmas tree made of lights has been erected in Bay Front Park and is awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus to throw the switch and turn on the lights. That will now happen one week later due to this weekend’s weather forecast.
