Calling all creative artists. The Art Center of Corpus Christi is looking to commission the next muralist to design the seven-panel mural that decorates the center’s Shoreline Blvd. facing wall.
The mural concept will come to life during the annual Arts Alive! Festival September 2-3. At the festival, community volunteers come together to paint the design, while the chosen artist oversees the work. The panels have arched tops and measure 4 foot by 8 foot.
The 2017 Arts Alive! Festival was recently awarded a grant by the city of Corpus Christi’s Arts and Cultural Commission to aid the project. The festival includes dance performances, theater productions, hands-on art activities, special exhibits and more.
The seven-panel mural is a temporary installation that will stay up for one year. It will be replaced by the work of a new artist at the next Arts Alive! Festival in 2018.
The selected artist will be compensated $1,500 for the mural, plus an additional $400 for materials. The artist will also be celebrated with a solo exhibition in the Lockett Gallery at the Art Center.
Interested? Submit your design to exhibits@artcentercc.org by Friday, July 21. Include your name, address, phone number, and a written description of the mural concept.
The Art Center of Corpus Christi is located at 100 N. Shoreline Blvd. For more information, visit artcentercc.org or call (361) 884-6406.
