Help elderly residents in need beat the heat this summer by donating a fan in the annual “Cool Corpus Christi Fan Drive.” The drive begins July 13 and continues through July 28.
Cool Corpus Christi is a collaboration between the parks and recreation department’s Senior Community Services, WellMed and Grande Communications. A kickoff event is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Greenwood Senior Center, 4040 Greenwood Drive.
Donations of either 16-inch-by-20-inch box fans, standing oscillating fans and/or money may dropped off at any of the locations listed below. Collected fans will be delivered to homebound seniors and elderly persons identified as in need by the city’s senior centers, the Corpus Christi Housing Authority and Adult Protective Services.
Last year, more than 100 fans were distributed across the Corpus Christi area.
