The latest pipeline expected to connect the Permian Basin in West Texas to Corpus Christi will be built of 24-inch pipe over 510 miles.
Yet another pipeline is coming to Corpus Christi. Permico Energia LLC, a Houston-based startup, recently announced plans to build a 510-mile natural gas pipeline from the Permian Basin in West Texas to Corpus Christi. The company also plans to build a fractionator plant in the Coastal Bend that would separate the gas into ethane, propane, butane and other products.
Full-time, permanent employees at the fractionator plant are expected to include 80 field workers and 20 managers and executives. Construction on the $2 billion pipeline system and plant could begin in the summer of 2018 with operations set to get underway in the fourth quarter of 2020. Initial capacity would be 300,000 barrels per day.
Already at work securing long-term supply and sales contracts, the company said it would not release information on the exact location for the plant because the land has not been purchased. Project funding has been secured from unnamed Korean investment banking and pension fund institutions, said Permico co-founder and CEO Jeff Beicker. He did say the lead bank providing loans would be Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Bank Corp.
The pipeline will run through the Eagle Ford Shale play in South Texas on its way to Corpus Christi.
Other companies building pipelines from West Texas to Corpus Christi refineries for processing or Port Corpus Christi for export are:
• Kinder Morgan — 430-mile Gulf Coast Express Pipeline expected to open late 2019;
• NAmerico Energy Holdings — 468-mile Pecos Trail Pipeline slated to begin operation in gabuckey2019;
• TexStar Midstream Logistics, Castleton Commodities International and Ironwood Midstream Energy Partners — 730-mile EPIC (Eagle Ford, Permian, Ingleside and Corpus) pipeline from West Texas and Eagle Ford Shale to Corpus Christi expected to be completed the first quarter of 2019;
• Spectra Energy — 168-mile Valley Crossing Pipeline from Nueces County to Brownsville to be complete in 2018;
• and Buckeye Partners — South Texas Gateway pipeline from Wink and Midland to Corpus Christi, set to begin operation in 2019.
