Bay Auto Service in Corpus Christi has grown into a large operation since its inception in 1999 in an alley. The auto shop has become so successful, in fact, that owners Jason and Olivia Jaimes recently moved their operation into a 10,700-square-foot building — more than 10 times larger than their first space.
Jason Jaimes, who has been working on cars since he was 18, was inspired to open his own business by his wife.
“Everywhere we would go — out to eat, running an errand — people would come up to him with their issue,” she said. “Jason would tell them how to fix it and that he would help them out. I told him, you’re very knowledgable and personable; you would be a great business owner. The next thing you know, he’s opening up his own shop.”
Bay Auto Service is experiencing some growing pains as the shop moves into its new space. Despite that, the Jaimeses maintain top-notch customer service. The day-to-day is fast-paced and hectic; the parking lot is always full.
Bay Auto Service works on electrical, mechanical and suspension issues. The shop utilizes factory diagnostic systems, a technology that truly sets it apart from its competition. An excellent, well-trained staff provides quality customer service.
“I believe in the integrity of our workmanship,” said Olivia Jaimes. “We’re a family-owned business, and we really care about the customers. We put ourselves in their shoes, and we’re understanding.”
Customer experience is key at Bay Auto Service. Clients are treated the same, whether they are getting their tire pressure checked or a full engine overhaul.
“Jason values every single client and treats them with the same courtesy,” Olivia said. “No one is pushed to the side.”
The entire team is excited about the new space, which includes a break room, a kitchen and a coffee bar for employees. Each technician gets his own bay. The new location also has ample offices, an IT room and a comfortable waiting area for customers.
“It’s been a long road, but we stuck it through,” Olivia said. “It’s amazing to go from the small, tiny, dusty space — he started in an alley! — and come to this. It’s a big deal, and it’s an accomplishment. I’m proud of him.”
