This Earth Day, get close to nature: climb a rock wall, catch a fish, touch a sea urchin, watch raptors soar above you. Attend the 19th annual Earth Day Bay Day Celebration in Heritage Park from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 7.
The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation is holding this free event to promote “the importance of environmental stewardship and appreciation for precious coastal natural resources,” according to a media release. The event draws more than 10,000 visitors each year to its fun, family-friendly exhibits and attractions.
Several organizations, businesses, and government agencies will be on hand to provide free education, entertainment, and resources to the public to inspire conservation, including:

  • Wild Sky Productions Raptor Shows
  • Youth Odyssey and the Rock Wall
  • Kiwanis Club Fishing Pond
  • Gladys Porter Zoo
  • Coastal Bend Surfrider Foundation
  • Texas State Aquarium
  • Grow Local South Texas
  • Perfect Impressions Face Painting

The Pollution Prevention Partnership will be on site to check your car. The AutoCheck Vehicle Emissions Program measures and fixes high-emission problems and can let you know your impact on the air quality in the Coastal Bend.
Animal services will offer pet adoptions. If your pet isn’t microchipped, bring it along! Animals services will have a limited number of chips available.
Come hungry: A selection of food trucks will be on site offering a variety of food for sale.
Earth Day Bay Day is free for all to attend. For more information, visit baysfoundation.org/edbd.
