Cove Harbor Marina and Drystack reopened almost one year after it was destroyed by the Category 4 winds and storm surge of Hurricane Harvey. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, just a day before the anniversary of the hurricane, at the marina, which is located at 121 Cove Harbor North in Rockport.
“We’re excited to reopen and resume serving the boating needs of the people of Rockport, Port Aransas, and Corpus Christi,” said Haythem Dawlett, founder and principal of marina developer Legend Communities. “The beautiful new facility we’ve built is a concrete demonstration of our strong commitment to Rockport and our continuing investment in making this community even stronger and better than it was before Harvey.”
Services and amenities have been upgraded and expanded, said Dawlett, who plans to announce the details at the ribbon-cutting.
Cove Harbor has almost 600 boats stored in drystacks and wet slips in the marina. The new facility is the largest full-service marina and drystack in the area. It includes 143 monthly/yearly wet slip spaces, 30 daily wet slips, and a ship store.
Coming upgrades include an “Airstream Hotel,” an event center, and a full-service boat service department.
“We are truly one of a kind when it comes to service,” Dawlett said. “With our new, bigger, and better marina, we’ll be able to provide the finest services on the Gulf to our Rockport family.”
Anyone wanting to attend the ribbon-cutting should RSVP to Rhiannan Oxos at oxos@legendcommunitiesinc.com or (512) 610-0511.
