Early voting numbers have broken records across the state. Today, Nov. 6, is your last day to have a say in the 2018 midterm elections. Polls are open 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
In Corpus Christi, voters will choose among 30 people to serve in the nine open positions on City Council, including the mayor. Ballots also will be cast in one of the most hotly contested battles in the country today, the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Republican Ted Cruz and challenger Democrat Beto O’Rourke. Those are not the only races on the Nov. 6 midterm election ballot. Polling places will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. for voters to make their choices for school boards, justice of the peace, judges, bond issues, and more.
Turnout is expected to be high, mirroring the higher-than-expected turnout in early voting, which ended Friday, Nov. 2. Perhaps the most important right we have as citizens of the United States of America, voting is also a responsibility to be taken seriously. To ensure you will be able to vote when you show up at the polls, bring one of the following seven forms of identification allowed by law:
• Texas driver's license
• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety
• Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
• Texas license to carry a handgun issued by DPS
• U.S. military identification card with your photograph
• U.S. citizenship certificate with your photograph
• U.S. passport
