Phase one of a new residential and retail development in Rockport is scheduled to begin in March and be completed by August 2020. The Pearl Point master-planned community will include 456 apartments for rent and a retail and commercial space called Pearl Point Center. Phase one, the Residences at Pearl Point, will include 96 one-bedroom units, 114 two-bedroom units, and six three-bedroom units.
“Our community needs and deserves this project after everything we have experienced,” Rockport Mayor Patrick R. Rios said in a news release, referring to damage to the community from Hurricane Harvey in August 2017.
Buildings will be constructed to withstand hurricane-force winds up to 150 mph. The three-story, garden-style apartment complex will be located on 34 acres of land at the intersection of Pearl Street and the Texas 35 bypass. Developers Uhr Real Estate and Frew Development Group are partners in the project.
“Pearl Point answers the call from community leaders for new housing following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey,” said Mark Uhr, owner of Uhr Real Estate Inc. “Pearl Point will become a benchmark within the city of Rockport and will be an integral part of the Aransas County Disaster Recovery effort.”
The apartment complex portion of the development will include a clubhouse, a community room, a fitness facility, a business center, a swimming pool, garages, pedestrian pathways, and green space.
