The Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra announced its 2019-20 season, which begins September 21 with guest stars The Texas Tenors.
Directed by Maestro Hector Guzman, the symphony plans seven performances this season, including the ever-popular Pops in the Park at Whataburger Field next spring. Other performances are held at the Performing Arts Center at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, 6300 Ocean Drive. Performance times are 7:30PM.
Top-selling artists from “America’s Got Talent,” The Texas Tenors are classically trained singer who have performed in more than 1,300 concerts around the world. They will celebrate their 10th anniversary together with their 2019-20 tour, which includes a stop in Corpus Christi this fall.

October 12
“Virtuosa Evening” with the Texas Guitar Quartet
Music performed includes “Cossak Dance” from “Mazeppa” by Tchaikovsky, “Concerto Adaluz for 4 Guitars and Orchestra” by Rodrigo, and “Concerto for Orchestra” by Bartok.
November 9
“Night at the Opera”
Featuring guest stars Arturo Chacon, tenor; Haley Sicking, soprano; Hope Thacker, mezzo-soprano; and David Small, baritone. Also joining their voices to sing the arias and choruses of Bizet, Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni, and more will be the Del Mar Master Chorus and the Corpus Christi Chorale.
December 7
“Home for the Holidays”
Santa Claus joins guest conductor Diane Wittry, the Del Mar Master Chorus, and the Corpus Christi Chorale for this holiday tradition. Includes carols, seasonal favorites, and a Santa sing-along.
February 8
“An American Rhapsody”
Piano sensation James Tien joins the Corpus Christi Orchestra to perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Dvorak’s “New World Symphony.” Music also includes “Suite from Porgy and Bess” by Gershwin/Bennet.
March 14
“Dreams and Visions”
In the season grand finale, the orchestra welcomes internationally acclaimed pianist Judith Jauregui for a performance of “Nights in the Gardens of Spain” by Falla, “Danzas Fantasticas Op. 22” by Turina, and “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky/Ravel.
