The Black Monk Tavern is a neighborhood dive bar that serves great drinks and food with a dose of heavy metal. Start the night with an order of pecan-crusted oysters or Sailor Jerry's Shrimp Wraps along with your favorite beverage. Then try the Cajun, flounder, or Ahi tuna tacos or Po' Boys, which are a few of the plates prepared fresh daily. 
"Don't let the dive part deter you; it's part of the charm," writes Yelp reviewer Erick N, who routinely stops at the Black Monk Tavern after work. "The food here is always excellent. The place is an awesome dive bar. You would never expect great food. Tuna tartare, Po' boys, tacos, etc. are all good. Last nights fried oysters were perfectly prepared.” Mac McAllister is a big fan of the seafood.
"Very much of a dive bar with quite a few locals,” McAllister writes, “But the guy that cooks the seafood does some incredible things with a little tiny kitchen. You will not be disappointed if this is one of your seafood stops while you're in Corpus Christi."
