Padre Island now has a primary care clinic. Christus Family Medicine is open and now accepting patients at 14725 Compass Street. The clinic currently has a physician and a nurse practitioner, both specializing in family medicine. Another doctor will be added when needed, according to Christus Physician Group, which opened the clinic.
This is not the first medical facility run by Christus Spohn on the Island. The faith-based, not-for-profit health care system closed an office there about 18 months ago. The space was subleased to a doctor who has since left. Christi Spohn decided to reopen a family practice
Located next door to Waves Resort Corpus Christi, formerly Schlitterbahn Water Park, the clinic has five exam rooms and one procedure room. It is 3,000 square feet.
An international organization, Christus Spohn is the largest health system in South Texas. It has almost 350 services and facilities worldwide, including 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 175 clinics and outpatient centers, and dozens of other health ministries. In the Coastal Bend, the 100-year-old Catholic-based medical system has six hospital campuses and six family centers.
