A unique building design makes the Art Museum of South Texas a work of art itself and a must-see Corpus Christi attraction. Renowned for art displays that capture the rich, multicultural heritage of the Americas, as well as South Texas and Mexico, the museum holds diverse exhibits, activities, and educational and outreach programs for all ages.
The Art Museum of South Texas is located in the Sports, Entertainment, and Arts (SEA) District in downtown Corpus Christi. The building features iconic pyramid shapes outside and skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Corpus Christi Bay inside.
AMST offers gallery walks, lectures, a variety of films, dance and theatrical performances, workshops, and activities for budding artists of all ages. The shop at the museum’s entrance carries an inspiring display of unique gifts, cards, and books.
Since its inception in the 1940s, the Art Museum of South Texas has expanded its collection, which now contains more than 1,850 works of art. Installations are rotated between galleries at the museum, the Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus, and through loans to other institutions. The museum also brings in visiting exhibits on a regular basis.
An online database of its art pieces is currently in the works and will be updated regularly until the entire collection is online.
The Art Museum of South Texas is located at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Corpus Christi. It is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 361-825-3500 or visit the website.
