Port Avenue between Leopard and Antelope streets will be closed April 19-29 to allow utility work related to the Harbor Bridge Project.
Motorists heading southbound on Port Avenue will be detoured onto Martin Luther King Drive and follow signs to Nueces Bay Boulevard and Leopard Street. Those traveling northbound on Port Avenue will be detoured onto Leopard Street and follow signs to Nueces Bay Boulevard and Antelope Street (Interstate 37 eastbound frontage road).
Business driveways along the closed section of Port Avenue will have customer and employee access. Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic-control devices, and slow down in work zones. All work is weather permitting.
Lane closures have been common recently due to progress on the Harbor Bridge Project. Managed by the Texas Department of Transportation, it will be the tallest structure in South Texas and the longest cable stay bridge in the United States.
Stay up to date on current and upcoming lane closures at www.harborbridgeproject.com.
